anyone else using an adapted 70-300/4-5:6L? What are your thoughts?

I have the 70-300 L for quite a while and very much like this lens. Top quality from 70-200mm. A bit degrading towards 300mm, but still very good, especially after stopping down a bit.

No fan of adapting this lens to the R camera's though. Nothing wrong with AF, IS or what soever. In fact, like with many other adapted EF lenses, the AF is even better than on DSLR. It is just the balance that's off : too front heavy. An adapted EF 70-200 f/4 or native RF 100-500 have (much) better balance. Tripod used, with tripod ring attached, balance is no longer an excuse.

Sandor.

Actually balances very much like the RF 70-200/2.8L. Basically build the same and the weight is within 20 grams lighter and 3 mm shorter without the adapter. The adapter actually balances it better when the barrel is fully extended to reach 300mm
