Keep in mind the people you talk to at the store may have a different agenda than you do.

I have both the R and R6, two different cameras. I use the R for portraits/landscapes and the R6 for things that move. You can see the difference between the 2 in IQ but you have to look for it.

When I picked up the R6 my plan was to sell the R. The R really is a good camera, I could not sell it

I bought the R6 because the R did not work out for auto racing. So when the R6 was announced I pre-ordered. The focus on the R was a bit slow for auto cross that my daughter and son in law were doing, About the same time my R6 came in we became grand parents and no autocross for a few years. Maybe this summer

Oh of course they do! Profit margins, moving stock and spiffs that may be available. I used to sell computers and remember those days.

I also use to autox and took pix with my old 35mm - fun times!

Some interesting commentary back and forth here! Financially I'm really leaning towards the RP. No matter what, it's a huge improvement over the SX50. I will likely give it a few weeks before deciding for sure.

Thanks for all the input - and feel free to give more if you'd like!
