Keep in mind the people you talk to at the store may have a different agenda than you do.

I have both the R and R6, two different cameras.  I use the R for portraits/landscapes and the R6 for things that move.  You can see the difference between the 2 in IQ but you have to look for it.

When I picked up the R6 my plan was to sell the R. The R really is a good camera, I could not sell it

I bought the R6 because the R did not work out for auto racing.  So when the R6 was announced I pre-ordered.  The focus on the R was a bit slow for auto cross that my daughter and son in law were doing,  About the same time my R6 came in we became grand parents and no autocross for a few years.  Maybe this summer
