I have just learned my toy budget for the fist half of 2022. I can spend up to 3500 on photography gear (or any other toys). If you were me, What will you buy?

Just wondering who sets out your toy budget ? because i would like someone to set it up for me as well 😂

Love to share… there are a few possibilities to make it happen but this is seriously NOT a  financial advice.

1. Sell the old stuff sitting around that are not being used anymore and use the fund to buy toys you want once in a while.
2. Invest in something that will generate good income/cash flow and allocate small portion of the income generated for something fun.

3. Run a business and use the points accumulated from the business credit card to buy something you want. Some of these reward programs are so generous!

4. Work for company’s or organizations that give out shopping credits or reward points for outstanding work performance or contributions to the workplace. And really work hard to perform.

So If I decide to spend the entire budget on camera and lenses, What will you advise to buy?

I figured a few options I am entertainng:

3. Get a used Leica M240 and a nice voigtlander 35mm M mount lens such as 35/1.7 Ultron or the Voigtlander AOP 35mm

Reading through the comments I can see some great suggestions (already).

I am suggesting a Leica M for the Rangefinder experience. I think it’s worth at least trying out the Leica ownership, if you have the opportunity to do so. It is a unique experience, there is nothing that comes close (except a more content bank balance).

Thanks for voting for this option. Yes, this is a strong contender as I always want to try the Leica RF experience. We can’t do all we want in our life as resources are not unlimited. But this little Leica wish is always within my reach. I just keep telling my self not to go for it as I am happy with what I have.  May be it is too big of an ask to make it happen.

It will change the way you shoot and visualise the scene, at least for me.. as it slowed me down (i.e. no eye AF, if i miss-focus, that’s on me!)

Which Leica model and which lenses do you use and recommend?

Have fun.

Thank you!
