Recently been wondering and looking into this as it's a great camera that packs a punch for its size and this thread popped up. Apologies if I'm a bit late for the party.

I had contacted Canon UK through Twitter regarding an AF update on their flagship cropped mirrorless, the M6ii. They replied back saying they had passed the information on. How true that was I don't know.

If canon can't / won't provide any further updates for this camera maybe a group can code something into some m6 firmware from something that has it like the R6. Like the Magic Lantern team or similar.

Obviously, 3rd party firmware is to be used at the user's own risk. But like what has already been mentioned, maybe it is a restraint to do with the Digic 8.

Unfortunately Canon’s idea of a firmware update would be a Canon M6 Mark III.

I think the code is a bit beyond the wherewithal of even the most dedicated reverse-engineers (look how far behind the M/L team is).

All is not lost though.  Fortunately the M6ii’s Spot AF is absolutely killer.  It’s just not as handy as Eye AF.

Come on Canon.  Give us all another body!!
