I can't see any banding either .

I like my Dynax 7d as well and still use it occasionally , however you need manage your expectations with 19 year old technology .

Sensors have come on a long way since them , and ISO's of 1600 were very high then , 3200 should only be used for extreme cases . I don't use the d7d above ISO 400 .

My Sony a100 from 2006 was the same .

ISO 100 to 200 were great . 400 was the usual maximum . 800-1600 gave poor results and 3200 needed to be converted to black and white and coarser than Ilford 3200 film !

I think it's just the usual high ISO noise your looking at and perhaps your eyes are joining the dots ?

If I stare at the last image long enough I can see what appears to be a faint "Y" written on the wall in red crayon .

So it's hard to say what your seeing .

I know, I know, I normally use the KM7D in Daylight at low ISO however you may be amazed by the results, even at high iso, when ones process the RAW files through DXO Photolab and apply the basic noise reduction (I have an old version fo this software, so I haven't tried the Prime Noise reduction which seems to give even much better results).

Furthermore the grain of the images produced by the KM7D at high ISO isquite pleasing and aplies very well to Black and White and Retro look color style so I'm open to this possibilities., that's why I've raised the question about this phenomena which I discovered only yesterday.

Regards.
