Did I overlook anything in the specs? 8K raw would be a pain to edit.
My experience has been different though . H265 HEVC 4:2:2 is merciless on any system . Take a look at Max Yuryev's following video : https://youtu.be/zWaFOQTbZ88
My RTX 3060 and i7 7820X , was able ro color grade and export 8K RAW without log to 4K on DaVinci Resolve . I couldn't get it to play smoothly 8K H265 HEVC though .
That video was done in July of 2020 and is approaching almost 2 years old. In terms of what's happened to the MBP, that's ancient. The new 14" & 16" MBP (as I specified) with the M1 chip can do 8K RAW editing quite effectively. Max was using an older, less powerful computer for this type of editing. The MBP he used isn't even available in most places now.
So if you use a new MBP with the M1 Pro or M1 Max chip, you should be fine.
