I ordered a used EVF-DC1 off Adorama for $109 which should arrive today or tomorrow... for astrophotography I use the EVF for critical/fine focus, and having one that can tilt up 90 degrees is going to save a lot of trouble, especially when the camera is mounted on a telescope or pointed near the zenith of the sky!

I have both the DC1 and DC2 and much prefer the DC1. Not only is the flip-up mechanism useful, but the image I get on the DC1 looks exactly like the image on the camera's display, whereas the DC2 produces a darker, higher contrast image that does not match. I've tried out two brand new DC2s and they were identical. And I've put the DC1 on one M6ii and the DC2 on another M6ii and tested them side by side. I'm surprised it's considered an upgrade over the DC1.

Another vote for the DC1. I mostly use the rear screen angled slightly up, and hold the camera about shoulder high, elbows straight down at my sides, which I find very stable.

When I do need to use the EVF, I like that the DC1 lets me shoot from the same position.

Could the edge connector in the hot shoe be used for anything else? Like an external monitor?

I've now been able to shoot a few sessions with the black M6ii and the EVF-DC1.

I have to agree --- I prefer the DC1 over the DC2, which I didn't expect. It has a bit lower contrast, and comparing the 2 side by side both on M6iis, the DC1 shows some shadow detail in ares where the DC2 just goes to 'black.' This is trying and comparing at the full range of display brightness settings in the menus. At night in very dim light, the DC1 also seems to be fine --- it's more of a subtle difference, not a big difference, between the two.

Another positive is that the DC1's eyecup is more comfortable, and sits slightly higher off the camera and a little further back --- enough so that my nose does not touch the rear screen and set the focus points accidentally!

I preferred the M6ii's DC2 over the M50ii's built in EVF for similar reason --- on the M50ii the finder was so close to the screen that you had to angle your face a bit and my nose was always squashed up against the rear screen. The DC1 is even better ergonomically, and its slightly larger size over the DC2 seems like a good compromise.

Although this isn't very important to me, I find that I prefer the appearance of the DC1 as well. It looks more like the M50ii integrated viewfinder than the rounded, somewhat awkward-retro-looking DC2.

The ability to tilt the DC1 up adds flexibility to the camera - i find that I'm tilting the evf sometimes in normal shooting, I thought I'd only use it for astrophotography on a telescope or tripod.
