I want something around 85mm equivalent for my M6 mkii. I have the EF 50mm 1.8 and a viltrox adapter, which works pretty good. Is the sigma 56mm gonna be that much better as far as rendering and color is concerned? I guess the sigma would be a little smaller and lighter, but what else?
Sigma 56mm f/1.4 DC DN = 280g
EF 50mm f/1.8 STM + Mount Adapter EF-EOS M = 270g
EF 50mm f/1.8 STM + Viltrox M2 0.71X (F=35.5mm) = 305g
By all accounts the Sigma is excellent from F1.4 on, while the Canon needs some closing down to F2.8 or F4 to be really good too (I have it).
Of course, the Canon I got (on sale) for $100 new while the Sigma is $400 so that's a bit unfair comparison. The Canon is nice as lens if you don't want to be worried about the purchase price and you don't shoot wide open all the time.
