Thanks for the info, appreciate it.

my thought process was to just use the tc at the 15mm end (21mm) for nudibranchs and other substrate dwelling critters

Thanks Chris and Kelpdiver, great conversation...

I use the Canon 8-15mm now on MFT, with Oly EM1II. I find it a perfect lens for MFT, as I get 180° at 8mm and can zoom in all the way to 15mm (comparable to 30mm with FF) for more working distance when photographing smaller and more shy subjects...

I plan to acquire an additional FF system (for more detail and dynamic range), but already now know that I will miss the ability to zoom in and from there comes my interest in TCs...

I have both Kenko 1.4x and 2x TCs. I used the 1.4x TC UW with Canon 8-15mm and did not find worse IQ compared to the pure lens, but this was on the small MFT sensor (AF was, however, less reliable with 1.4x TC, when there was dim light). Therefore statements on IQ comparisons with FF sensor, @15mm of the pure lens, compared to 11mm with 1.4x TC would be very interesting...

I did not try the 2x TC (theoretical optimum for FF) UW with EM1II, since in test photos over the water I could see that IQ is already degraded (is'nt it an absurdity to use a TC together with a fisheye lens? )...
