How frequently your Canon EOS R5 has locked up?

Zero times since 30 July 2020

The market researchers at the company where I work claim that feedback is ~ 100x more likely to come from those who have a negative experience than from those who don't so I am going to add my positive experience on this topic.  I am guessing the ratio is much different on this forum anyway because there are so many engaged users here...

I've had two R5s since end of July 2020.  I've had zero lockups so far.  I tend to shoot intensively for events or wildlife or sports outings and then very modestly in between.  I've had every firmware version since the original. I have lots of EF and RF lenses and have used them all.

I've taken the bodies to many parts of the world for work and vacation (I keep a minimal R5 setup in my work backpack).

I'm not a wedding photographer but do pro-bono weddings for family when they otherwise would not have any photographer.  I do lots of family events and then sports (usually kids) as well as frequent wildlife usage.

I mostly use the Delkin Power CFExpress cards in 1or 2TB config (these are the green colored cards) and ProGrade 256GB v90 cards in the SDcard slot.  I generally write RAWs to the CFExpress and JPEGs to the SD card.

Also, in case it's relevant, I never use the approach documented by a couple of third party guides of acquiring a subject using point AF programmed to the back button and then switching to subject tracking AF using another button. I only say this because I am aware of one friend who was having lockups while using that technique and switched to subject tracking using an initial point or region (like I do) and his freezing episodes went away.  Not saying, this should cause lockups, just sharing info.
