Why are you so hard pressed to get a full frame Sony? you could get a Sony apsc for significantly less initial investment.

Getting a sony aps-c body could make a lot of sense if it involves savings (after including an extra body). I did have an apsc body before - the C3, but I find the lenses (particularly the 16-50) a bit humdrum. and I would have to factor in the cost of lenses, whereas on full frame I already have the 16-35, and could use the 90mm 2.8 for other things.

No you dont, The Sony E Mount works for BOTH full frame and APSC bodies. its the Only thing Sony has going for them, you could use the 16-25 and 90 on the APSC body. Shoot Ill even sell you my copy of the 18-105 F4 (apsc specific lens) for a $300 if that will help you out. (I used both the A6500 and the A7iii for some time before switching over to Olympus).

it does not make a ton of sense to use the 16-35 on apsc, and I doubt the standard ports would take. The 90mm would give a 150mm fov, which would be limiting as well for almost all but the smallest of animals or clearest of waters

The Sony A6600 is about $1400 and the Ikelite housing is about $1600. you will still need a port for your specific lens.

The Ikelite housing for the A7rii is about $1800. you will still need a port for your specific lens.

IF you do not want an Ikelite brand housing then you can add about another $1000 ontop of the pricing I gave you.

there is seafrogs for about 800 and ikelite for about twice that.

Also keep in mind there are two types of underwater photographers; Those that have flooded their housings and those that will flood their housing.

i am not excessively worried about flooding in  a snorkeling scenario, with a sensor and vacuum pump. For diving, sure. But that’s a secondary use case for me.

I take photos, not particularly good photos, mostly abstract photos. Yeah abstract is what I would call them, you might call them blurry.
