Good rebuttal, those are terrific!

I use my 400 + D500 in the same way.

However ... those are large butterflies.

Even you have to admit (as I have to admit) that both lenses are unsuitable for tinier butterflies such as hairstreaks, smaller blues, etc.

The Z 100-400, with its .38x reproduction ratio, is going to be suitable for all forms of butterfly — especially with the 1.4x TC on it.

But those are really nice pics of larger species!
