Not a big deal to some, but it's a big deal to me. Especially with the upcoming spring time.

Definitely agree with that. The 500pf is not great for butterflies or small reptiles. I also have a Tamron 150-600 G2 that I use for video applications and it's even better than the 500PF for butterflies. The magnification of the 500pf is just too low.
