I'm betting the Tiffen filter is part of the problem. I threw all my old Tiffen filters away.

When you reshoot, if you shoot with your Fuji as a baseline, don't shoot AWB. As a side note, I encourage you to get a WhiBal card and use it to set a custom WB. It's quick and easy. Correct WB really changes the nature of the film sims for the better and since you shoot JPEGS, this would be very helpful.

I recently did a test of all my vintage 50mm lenses. It tested a 1964 Canon FL 50mm 1.8, a Canon FL 58mm f1.2, a Canon FD 50mm f1.4, a Canon Macro f3.5 and my Leitz Summicron 50mm f2. I took any filters off the lenses before testing.

The lenses varied in softness wide open, from pretty soft to surprisingly sharp. When stopped down, with f5.6 being the sweet spot for almost all of them, they were surprisingly sharp. The Leica Summicron was soft and lacked contrast wide open. It has to do with the lens design. However, once stopped down, the sharpness and contrast improved dramatically. Here's two

Canon FL (1964) 50mm f1.8 @f2.8, Fuji X-E1 camera JPEG

Leitz Summicron 50mm f2 @2.8, Fuji X-E1 camera JPEG

Leitz Summicron 50mm f2 @2.8, Fuji X-E1 camera JPEG, but edited for contrast, sharpness and clarity.
