That strikes me as noteworthy.

Anyway, I've turned off the D-Range Priority and set Dynamic Range to Auto.

The difference between those two settings is pretty subtle to me -- care to fill me in?

Which brand of adapter are you using? Cheap generic ones can introduce stray light which could well result in the softness we see. For that reason, I am using Novoflex adapters with my vintage lenses. Hurtfully expensive - but the best around.
