Just picked up the RP, will the EF 24-105 be all right or should I pay nearly triple for the RF?

You could always try somewhere like e-infinity and get the RF lens for considerably less than €1100;

They get great reviews and I’ve used them at least half a dozen times with new problem at all

I just checked the link: GBP 979 (€ 1166). Out of stock and depending on your location you will have to pay VAT and/or import duties (I think, the UK is not an EU member anymore). 
Apart from that, the lens seems to be out of stock everywhere. In the Netherlands the price was recently raised from € 1200 to € 1474. No big deal since I am not able to buy one for 14 months or so.
