High ISO can replace lighting?

Hi

I was wondering if it is possible to override the lighting in portrait simply by raising the ISO.

Exactly what differences would there be between illuminating a face with a strong light or doing it by raising the ISO?

I know it will increase the noise but apart from that is there any difference?

And on the other hand, Fujifilm has an option to reduce noise, has anyone tried it? It works well? what happens if I increase this parameter to +2?
