Exposure Lock On Z Cameras

Hi-

I have recently bought a Z5 and I like it very much.  I also have a Sony aps-c system.

On the Sony I can push a button and lock in an exposure.  That exposure setting will stay there until I push that button again.  I have looked through the Z manual, and it seems that with my Z5 one pushes and holds the sub-selector button to lock an exposure, but as soon as you release the button the lock is released. Am I missing something? This seems like a really crazy feature, especially if you are shooting at slower speeds on a tripod.  Having to keep pressure on the button seems crazy.

Is there any way other than setting speed, iso, and aperture to manual to keep an exposure setting?

I am only using the camera with manual focus lenses.  Does this make any difference?

Thanks,

Dennis
