Best midrange camera + lens for wild life photography.

Hello,

I am new to dSLR/SLR cameras. I am hoping to get some advise on which camera should I consider investing in to upgrade my nature / wild life photography.
Obviously, these qualities - weather proof body, high frames per second rate, high resolution picture quality, expandable ISO capability and zoom capacity - are important.

What would be one midrange (!) camera, which would fulfill the above mentioned qualifications + plus be reasonably priced (used option is preferred).

Also, what is the deal with the shutter count? Why is it a selling point for used cameras? Is it limited? Like anything mechanical, the shutter buttons probably have a life expectancy.

Thank you for any advice on the camera options. Alex.
