Do LaCie 2big & 5big support >8TB drives?

I've got LaCie 2big and 5big Thunderbolt 2 RAID boxes and would like to put drives larger than 8TB in them, but LaCie's "supported drives" list tops out at 8TB and includes only Seagate drives. Now, I know LaCie used to use mostly Hitachi/HGST drives prior to their acquisition by Seagate, and I have a pair of HGST 4TB drives running just fine as RAID 0 in my 5big, so I don't regard the list as exhaustive. Do you know whether drives larger than 8TB can work in the 2big or 5big? I've asked LaCie but haven't gotten a definitive answer yet.

Any useful info would be much appreciated.
