Focus hunting with SEL70-350 G
2

Hi everyone,

I'm still really enjoying this lens, but the more I use it, the more I find it has a tendency to hunt while trying to focus, especially at 350mm.

I know that AF speeds often slow down a little at longer focal lengths, but I'm wondering if there's anything I can do to mitigate this, e.g. by using a different AF setting or something. (I'm currently using lock-on AF with centre spot, if I remember correctly). I suppose ensuring an adequate contrast between subject and background might also help speed things up a bit?

Any suggestions welcome, thanks!

(Btw, here's a shot of a long-tailed tit which I got this morning. It's not very good, but these guys are hard to photograph, and this is by far the best image of one I've managed to get to date.)
