Looking for a winter wildlife lens(es) for Sony A58 / A77, any suggestions?

With winter upon here where we live (northern part of Europe), surrounded by its stunning wildlife, we are looking for lenses to shoot some nice winter wildlife / animals. We have long winters here with cold temperatures (down to -30C/-22F, but that contributes to give us a variety of options for good shoots. Yes, our focus will be to photograph more animals (preferably from distance) than shooting landscape photos.
We have 3 cameras to choose from; Canon 1000D, Sony A58 and A77, so anything for those would be great, but preferably the latter cameras. We are trying to find suggestions for wider/better lenses than what we already have in place, which are the 2 lenses:
- Sigma 70-300mm 4-5.6
- Canon 55-250mm 4-5.6 IS
The budget for the suggestions should be somewhat close to the lenses, but we're a bit flexible on that part.

So. Any suggestions for lenses that'd be an upgrade from those 2 lenses? Googling didn't seem to help us much on this matter, unfortunately.
