I shoot using the VF only and have no use for the LCD. So, when I close the LCD panel (so that the LCD glass faces the camera), the VF focus square moves and sticks into a corner of the VF screen - and I can't move it. When I open the LCD panel and flip it so that the LCD glass faces me, the VF focus square is fully moveable via the joystick or dials.

Am I missing a setting to resolve this?

Bottom Line: I want to shoot with the LCD panel closed, LCD glass facing the camera. When closed, I want to not have the focus point stuck in a VF corner.

Anyone have suggestions, please?

Hi Steve,

That shouldn’t happen. (Your R5 should operate normally with the screen closed).

Firstly, for information, the (SET) button is the default button to centre the AF Point.

Secondly, have you enabled the joystick to move the AF points? (For some bizarre reason the joystick has no function assigned to it by default).

Usually, I’d suspect you’re touching the screen as you close it and, as others have suggested, would advise you to try disabling ‘Touch to focus’. But that wouldn’t explain why you can’t move the AF point once the screen is closed - unless it’s the joystick function thing.

Phil
