Upgrade to Sigma 24-70 or Tamron 28-75 G2, or keep old Tamron 28-75?

Hi folks, to clarify the slightly confusing title, I have the old first generation Tamron 28-75 f2.8, and I'm thinking about upgrading it to either the Sigma 24-70 f2.8 or the new second generation Tamron 28-75 f2.8 G2.

I'm mostly happy with my Tamron 28-75mm, but the standard zoom lens is the bread and butter of my photography because the combination of the versatile zoom range and wide aperture is unbeatable to me so I'd like to make sure I have the best standard zoom I can afford. I am thinking about getting the Tamron 70-180 at some point too.

I'm looking for a lens that can focus faster and is faster than my current Tamron.

It goes without saying that I'd love the GM, but it's completely out of my budget at this stage, so it's out of the question.

I shoot portrait stills only (yes, and I still want fast AF!)
