Full Moon at my max zoom
7

The sky cleared up wonderfully this night and although I did not go out for shooting night land- or cityscapes, I did step out into the backyard and found this wonderful glowing orb floating in the sky...

I made good use of my new geared head on the tripod to shoot from tripod this time instead of hand-held, having a geared head really helped getting the camera aimed properly and no sagging when finally getting it framed right!

I focussed manually and fired a number of shots using remote shutter (app on the phone). In total I got 30 shots which I focus-stacked in HeliconFocus, noticeably improving sharpness.

Camera & Lenses used:

  • X-T3
  • Fuji 1.4x TC
  • Fringer Adapter
  • Sigma 2x TC
  • Sigma 100-400mm

That gave me a total focal length of 1120mm and an aperture of f/18 -- ignore the EXIF data on the image as these two values are not properly recorded by the camera with this Frankencombo of lenses, adapters and teleconverters!

Thanks to shooting from tripod I could shoot at ISO 160 and shutter speed of 1/100, lower ISO and faster shutter speed than I used to be able to.

Yay for new toys and tools!

Full Moon, 1120mm / f18 / ISO160 / 1/100s ss.
