Mac M1/Logitech Remote Question

Yes, I know, not a photo question, but I thought someone might have seen this before. I have a Logitech 665 universal remote, and when I connect to my Mac (M1 Pro chipset) it shows "connected " on the remote, but the Logitech software doesn't recognize it. Is there some USB configuration that can allow "legacy" equipment to connect?

It's connected via the USB cable supplied via a USB-A to USB-C adapter.
