This behavior, where noise seems to exhibit spots of the same color covering multiple pixels can be seen in studio scene as well. At least I hope that this is the effect that you are talking about. It's present in both Z6 and Z7 but it's more pronounce in Z7 image. However, noise in raw pixel values should be uncorrelated so this likely appear somewhere during processing of raw data into the final image. Does anybody knows more about the source of this granular chroma noise?

When raw images are demosaiced, colour information has to be interpolated (as captured colour resolution is lower). This is the underlying reason. How this noise manifests itself depends on the raw conversion process and NR, which is why most of the discussion in this and the previous thread is about the process used at least as much as about the cameras (most likely, more than about the cameras).

I was thinking if it couldn't be that during some step, different parameters for for demosaicing/denoising are automatically applied (e.g. radius of denoising) due to inherently different SNR ratio at pixel between Z6 and Z7. Then it might seem that the postprocessing is identical (because everything is at default and user didn't set anything differently for each camera) while it actually isn't.

Yes, I'd be very surprised if this isn't all that is going on. But who knows.
