Canon RF 70-200 f/4 or Sigma EF 70-200 f/2.8 with adapter

First, I apologize if this has already been asked.  I did a cursory search and didn't find a thread on this one just yet.

I took a 15 year hiatus from photography, but in the past week decided to hop back into it(FYI, sold all my equipment years ago...dumb mistake).  So, I purchased a Canon R6 for a body since my primary focus will be sports photography.  I've been reading quite a few online reviews, forums, etc. about the Canon RF f/4 70-200 L IS USM.  It seems like a solid lens, but most of the pictures I'm going to be taking right now will be in mediocre at best gym lighting. This gives me a bit of worry and has me wondering if maybe the Sigma EF 70-200 f/2.8 DG OS HSM | S with the Canon EF to RF ring adapter would be a better choice in the long run. I'd appreciate some input on this as I've fallen into analysis paralysis between these two lenses. Thanks in advance for your time/input.
