Modified Nikon D5500 - IC 1805, Heart Nebula @ 90% Moon
5

This is the first test of my newly modified Nikon D5500. I removed the stock UV/IR cut filter for increased Ha transmission.
First clear night since November but 90% Moon. I went out anyway and it turned out better than expected. Game on for all those beautiful emission nebulaeĀ

PixInsight & Affinity Photo for pre- & post processing

I think the modification went well, way more red signal than before. I was curios and measured the stock HotMirror filter. Only 20-25% transmission for 656nm. For comparison, my Olympus E-M10ii has 30-35%.
I installed a 2" UV/IR cut filter (400-700nm) in front of the flattener now to keep the star bloat in check.

And here is the transmission spectrum for those who are interested

Cheers, Chris
