Pro 100 - ink carts too old for Precision Color swap?

Hey gang,

I've got a Pro 100 which is now about 5 years old and still on the original set of ink carts (yes I know...). I just fired it up after being off for almost a year, and amazingly nothing was clogged and it's printing just fine. I've got the itch to do some printing again, but two carts are almost empty so it's time to buy ink.

I'm considering buying Precision Colors ink for it. I see they recommend using genuine Canon carts to refill. My question is, since my current carts are so old, should I buy a new set of OEM carts and run those out then refill with Precision Ink?
