Epson EcoTank ET-8550 vs P700, P900, and Canon Pro 300 & 1000 - Ink Questions

Hello,

I want to get into photo printing and I want a printer that makes good prints and has low ink costs. I'm interested in one of the pigment based printers because I would eventually like to sell some prints, but the ink costs are high. So experimenting until I got it right would be expensive. Then I came across the EcoTank ET-8550 and I read Keith Cooper's review and it seems to be a great printer. From what I can gather it is difficult to tell the difference between prints made with it and a P700 or P900. He says he'd happily hang the prints on his walls, but says he wouldn't sell them. Is that because of potentially less fade resistant inks? Are there OEM pigment inks I could use in it?

Also, has anyone tried the refillable ink cartridges and chip resetters from China for the P700 & P900? Would that work on a US model? Would that just be too much of a hassle? Would the refill costs still be much higher than the EcoTank printer?

I'm not sure about the refill possibilities for the Canon models, but I read perhaps the Pro-300 cartridges can be refilled, but then the printer will not know how much ink is left? In that case I'd need to make sure to top them off often?
