Coming from Nikon FF land, one of the ways I got more from my 105mm macro lens was to add the 1.4x teleconverter to it.
I noticed that the Oly 60mm macro has no room to accommodate the lens of the Oly 1.4x TC, but wondered if my extension tube might accommodate that, and allow me to add it in - but the inner circle of my extension tubes (Movo brand, Amazon US) were too narrow.
So, if you have the Oly 60mm macro lens AND extension tubes AND the Oly 1.4x TC - will the TC fit inside your extension tubes? If so, would love to know the brand and where you got them. Bonus for if they were a set of three. Double bonus if AF works with all three. TIA.
The Olympus TCs only fit inside the thin extension tube (of the pair) but still won't connect with the lenses I want. However after opening up the longer extension tube very slightly (with a small Dremel dril), both Olympus TCs now adapt to all my Panasonic and Olympus lenses - from the 60mm Olympus macro to the Panasonic pl100-400.
Did you used the sanding disk from the Dremel? What do you get by adding the Teleconverter and the extension tube(s) to the PL100-400?. I am receiving an used Panasonic 100-300 V2, tomorrow and will test it out. Thanks.
I did use the Dremel sanding disk. Just a little touch was all that was needed.
On the pl100-400 with the tcon/s (can't remember if I needed both) and the Olympus 2x teleconverter, I ended up with a FF equivalent 1600mm at the long end and it was sharp as long as I either had a very steady hand or could keep the shutter speed high.
It was ideal for distant macro work. And perfect for small garden birds but only just!
The problem was that even at the long end of the zoom the maximum focus distance was limited to around 40ft. And if a small bird came much nearer than about 30ft with all the extra magnification it was to big to photograph!
Thanks for the info. I received my Panasonic 100mm - 300mm II and tested with the MC2.0 teleconverter, it worked with 1 10mm Fotdiox extension tube. Haven't able to test it too much since it is a very dull gloomy day.
