I sold all my Canon equipment to Adorama, and received my XT3 with the 18-55 f2.4-4 kit lens 6 days ago. I read the manual (yes, I do that) and set my camera up and started shooting indoors and outdoors excitedly.

Last night, I downloaded my RAW files to Capture One, did some PP only to discover that the lens absolutely sucks.

Honestly, it is the worst lens that I've EVER shot with (and I owned the Canon zoom that was berated as the worst Canon lens ever made). Every single shot...even those with low shutter speed, with IS enabled, in the golden hour, is completely lacking sharpness. Even the spot I was specifically focusing on (my sleeping dog's nose) is blurred!

On top of that, the camera body reset to factory defaults both times I took the battery out to charge.

I truly hope that I just had the worst luck and both body and lens were defective. Now to wait for the return process to get my money back and decide where I go from here. I didn't opt for an even exchange because I don't want to cycle through 3 versions of the lens to find one that is actually worth using.

If you post some samples, we could help diagnose the lens. As for the body, I believe the camera also has an internal battery that hasn’t charged, or isn’t accepting a charge. This happens to my bodies when I don’t use them for a long time.
