Thank you, Alastair! We need more forum members to speak out against the steady drumbeat of whining and complaining. Such posts make checking in to DPR tiresome to the point of feeling pointless.

Call me paranoid, but I see a pattern of posts from people who start threads asking for help, and then no matter how many excellent suggestions are given, the OP predictably says nothing is working, the manufacturer has failed them, and that their problems are common and being discussed all over the web. Are they influencers? Are they just a little silly and have nothing better to do than claim that some of the best gear ever made can't take a simple picture of their cat?

Or squirrels, that one is my favorite ... Or using a lens which 5 minutes of googling confirms that isn't supported on recent digital cameras, any of them at all, isn't working at 45 MP.

But why do your own (easy) research, when you can complain bitterly here instead, and then refuse to accept what other posters tell you?

Even worse is when they invade other topics to complain about their particular "issue" getting good squirrel images.

A problem much easier solved by just buying a M50 and a lens made this decade.

Those who posted satiric images and diagrams have also seen the pattern! Thanks to you members too!

Often the OP in such depressing threads has 100 or less previous posts, mostly banal replies.

(Just the fact that you, Alastair, had such a history of many helpful posts alerted me to the satire.)

And I do wonder if a handful of posters might have dozens of screen names. I sense that some of the OP's then use other screen names to confirm their craziness with posts complaining of the same or related issues. And they post on a few other websites too, thus verifying their claims of "widespread issues."

And no matter how much logic is posted, or suggestions to keep things in perspective, the goal of the OP seems to be stretching out the thread for as long as possible, even resurrecting old complaints every few months to keep it going and going.

Anyway, good skewering, on point, and very refreshing.

Cheers!
