apologize for the multiple posts, still haven't; figured out the multiple quotes in one post

Open a duplicate tab (how to do this depends on your O.S.). Then copy and paste. How the copied text shows up depends on what “color” text you paste into.

If you switch to the “Plain Text Editor” you’ll be able to see the nested quotes. You can add “right-hand arrows” ( > ) as needed. But if you’re skillful at your copy and pasting you won’t need to do this though.

you gave me something to think about.. I meant to say the 100mm isn't* too heavy.

That makes the macro decision easy. Shoot with what you have!

agree

The longish 100mm (macro) focal length is ideal IMHO.

absolutely

I’ve owned all 4 of Canon’s 100mm Macros and they all produce stunning macros. You may want to add features (stabilization, compact size, lights, different focal lengths, etc) depending on what you are shooting (and what else) you want to do with the lens.

I never considered the versatility of the 28mm.

I also have the little 28 Macro and it is very fun for walk-around (and great for flowers), but the wide angle (for a macro lens)

really makes it difficult to isolate the subject from the background.

probably not for me

The mid-sized Canon 60mm Macro is another option. I’ve owned (and sold) this one twice. It can be really useful at normal focal lengths.

I really like the Laowa EF-M 65mm Macro quite a bit. It goes to a whopping 2x magnification and is quite compact. But like I mentioned, it doesn’t have AF or IS. (For those features I rely on the RF 100mm Macro on my R5).

100L for me is not only about macros, but about candids at 160 fov on 32.5 mpxl with dxo PL5 deep prime - it is not a high action lens - but if I only have pedestrian motion, I can leave my 70-200 L and 6d at home - because I got the reach with this setup -- having 100 fov on FF AND 160 FOV on high 32 mpxl is very useful to me -- I'll probably not get the RF version since I want it for my m6II too

I have macro samples from some of my lenses in my galleries (but not much that’s recent, apologize)…

I'm loving my 30mm Sigma, but still year for a zoom lens

The (native) prime lenses available for the M System really are terrific (I’ve got 7 and counting). If I need max capability I reach for one of those.

But EF-M zoom lenses are so darn versatile. I really like the 18-150 for travel. The 15-45 is so nice and compact (it’s my landscape lens). The 18-55 I have glued onto my M6 for product photography.

for me - the 55-250 stm

I sold my 11-22 only because I’m not a huge UWA landscape shooter,

starts at 18 fov - for me it depends on how good the rf 18-45 is

but I may pick up the aforementioned Laowa 9mm (recti) for occasional use.

recti 9mm may be in my future too

All that’s missing in EF-M for me is that fast Sigma 18-50 f/2.8 standard zoom.

unless a body gets ibis - it will be hard for me - having the RF 24-105 L

. hmmm, decisions... this is how we end up with multiple lens...hahaha.. I'll take slow for now.

”Slow” will save you from unnecessary expenditure.

exactamundo - I'm still at 1 m lens - the m32. Adapted lenses work well

I use the 18-150 mm lens over 90% of the time. It is possible to make excellent A3 size prints without cropping. My other lens is the 11-22 mm, which also produces excellent results.

I have 9 lenses that I can use on my M6 II, but I rarely use any but the 2 mentioned above.

The other 7 are interesting at times, but looking back on why I purchased them, I would have to say that GAS played a big factor, rather than actual need. I purchased most of the additional lenses within 6 months of buying the camera, but if I had taken more time between purchases to really get to know the lenses I already had, I might have stopped purchasing before acquiring all of them. I don’t regret any of the purchases though, and haven’t sold any.

This illustrates how individual we all are, and how our needs and preferences are all so different. Every one of us here would choose 2 different lenses as our most-used.

I will also say that my needs are modest, since I am just an average amateur “picture taker” who has never sold any photos or peeped at a pixel.

And these lenses are even suitable for a pixel-peeper like me!

Best of luck with your decisions!!

MPB sold me a very nice 100L for a great price !

With the IS I find it a very useful lens on the M6II at the birthday parties.

Thanks to you and Alastair for pointing me that way !
