Re: Anyone using the Meike 50mm 1.2

I am using the Meike 50 f1.2 on the Alpha 7C and the Alpha 7R3 for a while now.

It is certainly not a perfect lens because the aperture ring is de-clicked (which I do not lke) and the contrast wide open is not great neither. But it has a good (not great) bokeh and its all metal build is not bad too.

When using such lenses at f1.2 the corner sharpness is not an issue because typically you do not have your objects close to the corners and, thus, I would say it is perfectly usable for portraits too.

For roughly USD 300 you won't find anything similar to the Meike and it is a lens you want to use not thaz frequently, but for special situations such as extremely shallow depth of field (.... please be aware of the difficulties in getting in focus accurately).

Though it is a Chinese lens, I would not mind to test/use it as a supplementary tool in portrait photography.

Have fun and enjoy shooting.
