A very alluring bird and great to photograph, as you have shown.

It is clear that 1/1600s is slow for the Western Grebe as evident by the lack of sharpness in several images. I recommend you use a minimum 1/2500s with this bird, even when it is just moving across the water, as the head may dart forward or retract meaning you could lose a potentially pleasing image.  I use the 150-400 on an E-M1X and regularly go as high as ISO3200, which is quite manageable in good noise reduction software.
