I shoot a ton of wildlife and yes, I don't like the viewfinder blackout in the R6. In electronic shutter at 20fps it's not an issue for me at all.  I'm this mode apparently my bit depth drops and rolling shutter can be an issue. I wouldn't know as I have never had either impact on my images as far as I can tell.

I too had a 6dii and moved to an R6 and was so impressed I wrote something like a 5000 word review which you will find under user reviews of the R6. I urge you to read it.

But, you keep stressing that you shoot competitions and how important the R3 functionality (you assume) is.  At this level of camera purchase I suggest that unless you know the R3 is for you (which obviously you are questioning) then rental is the way to go. Or if you can borrow one for a little while? An R6 that is - see if it can do the job. I would be surprised if it can't.

The R5/R6 are game changing (in canon terms) cameras. For me, after using a friend's A9 and reading reviews comparing the R6 to that well, I was in.

If my photography was myain income stream and I was doing okay I would be all over the R3 without thinking about it. The video specs alone would sell it to me.

If money wasn't an issue I would be all over the R3.

Obviously the R3 is better. That goes without saying. The rest of the questions ultimately only you can answer.
