Re: 2 new Samsungs ordered. CAN'T WAIT!

No matter how secure your cell phone may be at any point in time, you should know that every time the manufacturer releases an update to your phone no matter the brand there is a risk of a vulnerability being exploited as this is a new set of code that hasn't been tested.
Keep in mind manufacturers 'testing' of their software is considered testing lite. The real testing of released software is always when it is pushed to your device and goes live, when it becomes widespread and public, this is when the manufacturer finds out the bugs and then they work on patches and fixes. During that window is when you are the most vulnerable, no matter the brand. Then you have some relative security for a few months until the next update. These updates are what hackers drool over with great anticipation of the next one.
I'm sure you aren't aware that android which your Samsung run on had its biggest software hack in the history of the software just 3 days ago on Dec 13th, nor that android has had a major hack on average 3 times a month for the last 10 years.
Maybe you aren't aware also that another facet of phone vulnerability is through the apps you run, and neither IOS or Android has fared any better in limiting liability.
Arxan Technologies security firm analyzed the top 100 paid apps and top 20 most popular free apps in its 'State of Mobile App Security' report to reveal that 97% of the top, paid Android apps and 87% of the top, paid iOS apps have been hacked. Free apps did not fare any better, with 80% on Android and 75% on iOS found vulnerable. Though iOS has been considered relatively safer, the report says that the percentage of hacked popular iOS apps has steadily increased over the last 3 years.
If you have any device connected to the internet there is no such thing as security. I think you got yourself some great new phones, but I don't think for a second you just became more secure. Don't let your guard down.
