Canon M50ii + EF-M 32mm Malfunctioning During Rapid Image Review
1

Hey all,

The last week I've been using my M50II and 32mm lens, I've had the camera act up on me twice. Both times happened in similar conditions; here's the context:

  1. I was indoors and the temperature was moderate, wasn't too hot or cold.
  2. I had just taken a picture and almost immediately hit the image review button, maybe even before the image was done being processed.
  3. I could see in the viewfinder that the camera was still "seeing," but I couldn't change focus, take a picture, change settings with the dial, switch modes, etc.
  4. I turned off the camera and noted that it still gave notice of the sensor auto-cleaning. The lens aperture stayed open, although it usually closes automatically.
  5. I turned the camera on and noted that it was still stuck in the state where I could see what the camera was seeing, but couldn't control it.
  6. I turned the camera off, pulled out the battery, put the battery back in, turned the camera on, and noted that the camera was working fine again. I have not used the camera much since then, but the few times I have, this has not occurred again.

I wanted to ask in case someone knows what's going on, and if this signifies camera failure, lens failure, lens contact failure, etc.

The camera I bought new, have <4000 shutter actuations so far. The lens I bought used, but it looks absolutely pristine. Maybe I just shouldn't be hitting the image review button so fast after a shot?
