‘Better’ for who and what?

The R3 is a Pro body for Sports and Action photographers who operate in various conditions. As such, it does what it is designed for: to help Pro’s capture images faster, easier. It might therefore be ‘better’ for those Pro’s over an R6.

The R1 will no doubt be aimed at Pro portrait, landscape and wildlife photographers and help them do the same and benefit their workflow.

The R6 and R5 are for Pro’s and Hobbyists who don’t need the additional abilities of the two Pro models and who prefer a smaller, lighter body.

If you are a gear above photography Hobbyist then you will likely want rather than need one of the Pro models. Perhaps it might make you think you would be a better photographer, perhaps you think it impresses others. Truth is, many people have been creating photos using tech from a decade ago that are way better than some are today using the latest and greatest gear - the R6, R5, R3 will certainly help make the process a bit easier but the real skill is still with the person wielding the camera. Will the R3 benefit your specific photography goals more than an R6? Only the individual can decide.

Personally, I have never had a need for the larger Pro models in DSLR and now Mirrorless and would never use one - I have no desire to carry a big brick around that will make zero difference to the images that my camera helps me to create.
