I'm a fan of the two identical cameras approach as well, though not with the X-T2 . I keep the pair to the same set-up, or at least try to as settings still evolve in use. I often go out with both, currently mostly the 16-55 and 70-300, though in the past also with two primes.
The only thing to take care of, is that file names on downloading are made unique. My software [downloader pro] does that. Also I prefer to keep the file numbers specific to each camera, for that I keep the cards separate
Starting with my Leica's over three years ago,I download all of my files to Apple Photos, which assigns an 8 digit alpha-numeric ID number to each different camera, with the first four digits identifying the camera. But, I haven't downloaded anything from the the new X-T2 so I'm not sure how it will be treated. I used to use different software over the years, so with all of those, I have to look at the exif data to see what camera was used.
Downloaded my first image file from the new X-T2 and the first four Alpha characters are the same, DSCF. But my older X-T2 is up to DSCF91xx and the newer one is at DSCF32xx. Far enough apart to tell which camera was used.
The first four alpha characters are user changeable so am thinking of XT2Annnn and XT2Bnnnn, plus resetting the number count. I did that when I had an X-Pro2, using XPROnnnn
Sounds like the names are derived from what is on the cards. DSCF is standard for an sRGB file (if set to aRGB it would be _DSC I think) and the number is generated by the camera. It looks at what is in its memory and what’s on the card, takes the highest and adds 1 for the next shot. If you mix cards there is a potential problem, so changing the alpha part would be a good idea
My Panasonic M43 images all began with a P followed by 3 digits identifying the camera. Same with my Leica M9 and M8. M9 started with L100 and M8 with L400. All of the Fuji I bought after starting using Apple Photos, start with DSCF and includes two different X100Ss, an X-T1, an X-E1, and two different X-T2s. I was SanDisk Extreme Pro 32GB cards for years, just reformatted in each new camera. With the X-T2s, I replaced them with Sandisk Extreme Pro 64GB cards.

We're Noct messing around with this review.
Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom impress in a lot of ways, but their noise reduction lags the competition and their lens corrections lack a real-world basis. DxO PureRAW 3 aims to come to their rescue without totally reinventing your workflow!
The Sony ZV-E1 is the company's latest vlogging-focused camera: a full-frame mirrorless camera based the FX3/a7S III sensor, aimed at YouTubers and 'creators' looking to go pro.
The Sony ZV-E1 is a full frame camera targeting YouTubers. Chris and Jordan are Youtubers, what do they think?
Holy Stone produces dozens of low-cost drone models aimed at consumers. We look at the HS710 and HS175D to see if they stack up to other sub-250g offerings. Are these secretly great or more like toys?
Above $2500 cameras tend to become increasingly specialized, making it difficult to select a 'best' option. We case our eye over the options costing more than $2500 but less than $4000, to find the best all-rounder.
There are a lot of photo/video cameras that have found a role as B-cameras on professional film productions or even A-cameras for amateur and independent productions. We've combed through the options and selected our two favorite cameras in this class.

Family moments are precious and sometimes you want to capture that time spent with loved ones or friends in better quality than your phone can manage. We've selected a group of cameras that are easy to keep with you, and that can adapt to take photos wherever and whenever something memorable happens.
What's the best camera for shooting sports and action? Fast continuous shooting, reliable autofocus and great battery life are just three of the most important factors. In this buying guide we've rounded-up several great cameras for shooting sports and action, and recommended the best.
