My Lenovo tablet supports "adoptable storage ", Google's Android 6+ return to microSD functionality after trying to murder it with Android 4.x (KitKat). Because the tablet is low powered and performance limitations of microSD cards, it would do poorly for gaming or serious media editing, but functionally combining internal with microSD storage is a good way to economize on badly overpriced increments of internal storage for less demanding apps and media.

I did not know about the attempted murder in KitKat.

I'm happy with removable storage on my Android phone. I send photos and videos to it, so the internal storage doesn't fill up. Then when I get a new phone, all my stuff is still there! Don't need adoptable storage.

We ordered a Sandisk Extreme 512GB (U3, V430, A2) for under 15¢ a gigabyte. It's for a laptop PC, the LG Gram 17, which oddly takes microSD instead of regular SD cards.

As far as I can tell, if you want UHS-II it has to be regular SD.
