Sadly, unless there is a huge breakthrough I'm thinking we have seen the end of Foveon. What do you think?

They've had breakthroughs before, like the jump from SD15 to SD1, but for their first full frame Foveon they don't even need that. The L-mount completely changes the value of a Foveon sensor since you don't have to invest in lenses for a single camera but rather invest in the system with the most diverse offer of camera bodies and sensors.

I have an fp, but would definitely buy a Foveon L-mount camera since it would offer a very distinct rendering even against a Sigma Bayer. I'm sure a number of Leica and Panasonic customers would be tempted by the same.

Like Mike2019, I've been enjoying my fp L.  I develop the DNGs with SPP so I can have a Sigma workflow all the way through, just like I had with previous Sigma cameras that had Foveon sensors.  I bought a modern fast computer to do this and I'm happy.

The L mount is a game changer, making risky strange purchases of oddball camera bodies workable (Sigma Foveon maybe).

I'm not so sure that a Foveon L-mount camera would really deliver a "very distinct rendering even against a Sigma Bayer".  I think Sigma has put their color technology (developed over 19 years from a continuing line of Foveon sensors) into the fp, the fp L, and into SPP.  I think I am getting as close to Foveon as possible with my fp L, at the moment.  So, I don't expect anything drastic from a new FFF.
