Re: Navitar and Raptar: what's in a name?

Possible, but Navitar is very explicit about "designed and made in USA" for their lenses. Perhaps that wasn't always the case? Interestingly, Navitar corporation has USA facilities, but is apparently now based in Canada.

Their FAQs at https://navitar.com/contact/FAQs/faqs/ say

Q: Who makes Navitar lenses? Where?

We design and assemble most Navitar lenses at the Navitar manufacturing facility located at 200 Commerce Drive, Rochester, New York, USA.

(emphasis mine).

The low-res picture at https://navitar.com/products/imaging-optics/large-format-lenses/raptar-pro/  shows a lens that looks very similar to mine, that looks as if it might well say "CHINA" at the bottom of the faceplace just where mine does (too low-res to be sure though).
