Employee portfolio rights?

Hi all,

I am based in Colorado, USA, and I recently left employment at a company that I created photo content for. I signed a restrictive employment agreement at the beginning, clearly stating that the company owned all IP and rights to the work created. I also signed a restrictive separation agreement stating I needed written permission before using any photos in any capacity.

My question is if there are any inherent rights to content creation in my area that would allow portfolio use of images created under this arrangement, or if the agreements are completely binding. I would just like to use photos for my website/portfolio, and am hoping there might be some sort of basic usage allowance. Thanks!
