How to suppress the pre-flash in P-TTL?

Hi

How (on a K3 ii) do you prevent a P-TTL flash from firing the pre-flash, so a second flash can be triggered by a dumb optical slave in manual mode?

I just found a new-old Metz 24 AF-1 P. https://www.dpreview.com/forums/post/40085525

It has just an on-off control, no others. It runs in P-TTL on-camera. Useful as the K3 ii has no built-in flash. But I also want to use it to fire a slave flash, a Sigma EF-530 DG Super. The Metz has has no P-TTL commander mode, but that's fine as it'll all be manual.

I've read that setting the camera to M mode still fires the pre-flash. Is that right? What about using X?

Or do I have to use an FA lens and set the aperture to something other than A?

Thanks

Paul
