Tamron 70-300 USD AF suddenly stopped working

While trying out some things with different lenses, bodies, and adapters, I noticed that my Tamron 70-300 SP A005 wouldn't AF. MF via the clutch driven ring works fine. No errors are displayed. Switching the AF/MF switch back and forth didn't make a difference either. I tried an LA-EA3 and LA-EA5 and an A900. No AF on any of these. I also verified with a DT35 that AF on those bodies/adapters still works for other SAM lenses.

Wondering if anyone else has encountered this, and what the repair involved. Can't remember for sure the last time I used this lens. I had taken it out in my bag with other A mount stuff a few weeks ago, but I don't think I used it on that outing. It certainly used to work, though.

A7R2 with SEL2470Z and a number of adapted lenses (Canon FD, Minolta AF, Canon EF, Leica, Nikon...); A7R converted to IR.
