If the walls in the Topkapi Palace harem could talk, I don't know if we would want to see or hear. When I went in 2006 there was a huge room where the harem stayed.

There were a few changes in Istanbul since I was there in 2015. The Hagia Sophia is now a mosque, and they won't let you go upstairs anymore. Also, the Blue Mosque is under renovation, and the interior is pretty much boarded up, even though it is still technically open to the public.  Finally, the Basilica Cistern is closed for renovation, but the Cistern of Theodosius, smaller but older than its more famous sibling, is now open to the public.

Never fear. I ordered a Blurb book a few days ago, and I will probably subject you to it next time we get together for lunch.
